Glasner shares squad fitness update on Mateta, Hughes before Fulham clash

Oliver Glasner confirms Jean-Philippe Mateta is fit for Crystal Palace’s FA Cup quarter-final at Fulham but says Will Hughes remains a late decision.

Crystal Palace aims to reach the FA Cup semi-finals for the second time in four seasons as they face Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The team will benefit from the return of top scorer Jean-Philippe Mateta, who was sidelined after picking up an injury in the fifth-round win over Millwall earlier this month.

Glasner confirmed Mateta’s readiness, stating: “He has trained with us for two weeks, always with his protection, and it’s important for him to train properly. We had an internal game during the international break, and he played 60 minutes without any issues, so he’s ready.”

The French striker will wear protective headgear, with Glasner joking: “It looks a little strange, but he feels comfortable. Let’s see—if he scores a header tomorrow, it was the right mask!”

Providing an update on the squad’s fitness after the international break, Glasner added: “The positive thing is that all players are fit and available—only Will Hughes is questionable. He’s feeling a bit sick, so we’ll monitor his condition overnight.”

He further noted that all returning internationals are in good shape, with only Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucouré ruled out for the rest of the season.
