What’s Changing Ahead of the 2025 Season?

The NFC East is one of the oldest and most physically demanding divisions in football. The fierce rivalries between the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Washington Commanders, and Dallas Cowboys have fueled some of the sport’s most intense matchups, making it a cornerstone for growing the NFL’s fan base. While games in this division often turn into hard-hitting battles, the NFC East has also made history on multiple occasions.

NFC East: One Move Every Team Should Make in 2025

In 2017, the NFC East became the first division in league history where all four teams had won at least one Super Bowl title. That record was further solidified when the Philadelphia Eagles secured their second championship with a victory in Super Bowl LIX, making the NFC East the first division in which every team has won multiple titles. Now, the division is once again making history in a groundbreaking way.

For the first time ever, all four NFC East teams will be led by a Black starting quarterback in the same season. Dak Prescott remains the franchise leader for the Dallas Cowboys, while Jayden Daniels and Jalen Hurts continue their respective roles with the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles. The New York Giants, meanwhile, have now secured their own veteran signal-caller.

This offseason, the Giants signed former Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson to a one-year deal, naming him the team’s starting quarterback for the 2025 season. Wilson himself has embraced the opportunity, stating, “I expect to be the starter and to be able to come here and rock and roll every day. I think this team’s really looking for somebody to lead them in every way—in the offseason, during the season, and in how we can create a great culture.”

If Wilson lives up to expectations, the NFC East will officially make history as the first division to feature all Black starting quarterbacks. Given the pride and competitive nature of this division, such a milestone only adds to its already storied legacy.
