Chris Richards says Crystal Palace aims to achieve new milestones as they approach the season’s final stretch.
With 10 league games left, Crystal Palace has hit a club record of 39 Premier League points at this stage and reached the FA Cup quarter-finals, where they will face Fulham on Saturday (12:15 GMT).
Defender Chris Richards shared his thoughts ahead of the match, saying: “It’s been impressive. Regardless of how we started, we always knew we were just a step away from making a difference. Once we saw results in the FA Cup, it carried over to the league, and both started clicking.”
Richards emphasized the team’s hard work and the boost from their Cup run. “It helps us in the league too because we’re competing at a high level in both. The club, the coach, and I all aspire to make history here at Palace. The team had a great run to the semi-finals before I arrived, so hopefully, we can go even further and win it this time.”
Despite their strong form, Richards stressed the importance of staying focused. “Every game from now on is the most important. We’re not looking too far ahead—just taking it game by game. We’ve been in great form, so who knows where we can finish in the league?”
On facing Fulham again, he added: “They’ve had a good season. We beat them 2-0 recently, but it wasn’t our best performance. We need to tighten up and improve on that game to get another win.”
This is Richards’ first deep FA Cup run with Palace, and he admitted he didn’t grasp the competition’s significance until he arrived. “I watched a few games growing up but didn’t realize how big the FA Cup was. Now that I’m here, I understand—it’s the biggest for a reason.”
