Despite a hectic recruitment, OU’s new QB is all in midway through his first semester.
One of Ben Arbuckle’s first priorities after becoming Oklahoma’s offensive coordinator was flipping then-Oklahoma State commit Jett Niu. The 6-foot-2, 197-pound quarterback had been pledged to the Cowboys for nearly four months when OU extended an offer. Just days later, he switched his commitment, bolstering the Sooners’ reshaped QB room.
Niu was no stranger to Arbuckle’s system—he had previously been offered by the coach at Washington State. In the end, the blend of Oklahoma’s championship pedigree and Arbuckle’s scheme proved irresistible. “It was too good to pass up,” Niu said.
