Oliver Glasner has impressed at Crystal Palace since taking charge in 2024.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is reportedly in discussions to leave Selhurst Park, according to a German report. The former Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt boss remains highly regarded in the Bundesliga.
Despite a difficult start to the season, where Palace struggled without Michael Olise and failed to win in their first eight matches, Glasner turned things around. His side has been in strong form since November, losing only three times and securing a spot in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley.
Glasner, ranked 47th on FourFourTwo’s list of the world’s best managers, previously declined talks with Bayern Munich before Vincent Kompany took the role. However, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg now reports that RB Leipzig has made contact with Glasner’s representatives regarding their managerial vacancy.
Leipzig, currently fighting for a Champions League place, recently parted ways with Marco Rose and are three points behind fourth-placed Mainz. Plettenberg notes that Glasner remains a strong candidate, and while his contract with Palace runs until 2026, an exit option is reportedly available. Leipzig director Marcel Schafer, who worked with Glasner at Wolfsburg, could play a key role in negotiations.
FourFourTwo previously reported that the release fee for Glasner was high enough to deter Bayern, but that amount has now been reduced. His tactical approach, which includes a high-pressing 3-4-3 system, could offer an interesting dynamic at Leipzig, where such formations have been used only occasionally.
Meanwhile, Palace is set to face Southampton as Premier League action resumes tonight.
