ESPN: Alabama QB race wide open; Ty Simpson must earn role, rival QB backed by teammates.

Alabama’s spring practice is once again focused on the quarterback competition following Jalen Milroe’s departure.

According to ESPN’s Chris Low, who recently visited campus, there’s a genuine battle unfolding at the position. Ty Simpson appears to be in the lead but hasn’t secured the starting job yet and still needs to earn it.

Austin Mack is also in the mix and, notably, has built strong support among his teammates. That level of backing could impact the final decision.

Meanwhile, freshman Keelon Russell is regarded as the most talented of the trio, but his inexperience, having just arrived on campus, is a challenge.

Low’s insights line up with recent reports suggesting that the competition remains tight, with reps largely being determined by experience so far.
