The 18-year-old may secure a Premier League move and reunite with George Hirst, two years after joining Sheffield United.
Scotland wonderkid Ryan Oné is attracting interest from Ipswich Town, who see him as a potential replacement for Liam Delap.
The 18-year-old currently plays for Sheffield United, having joined from Hamilton Academical two years ago. Rather than staying with the youth team, Oné has regularly featured in Chris Wilder’s first-team squad during the current EFL Championship season. Despite only playing 11 league games, he’s made an impact, scoring once against Bristol City.
Oné made the move to Sheffield United in September 2023 for a six-figure fee, with add-on clauses tied to Premier League appearances, a deal negotiated by Hamilton’s director Allan Maitland. His Premier League debut against Arsenal triggered a cash boost for the club.
The Scotland U21 international is aiming to impress national team manager Steve Clarke, who is focused on bringing in younger talent, as shown by his selection of 18-year-old Hearts striker James Wilson. Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna is also keeping an eye on Oné, possibly seeking him as a replacement for Liam Delap, should the 22-year-old move to a Premier League club.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Ipswich is monitoring Oné’s performances and has placed him on their shortlist for the summer if Delap departs. Meanwhile, both Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in Delap, with a £30 million release clause if Ipswich is relegated. If they stay up, the clause could rise to £40 million. Delap has impressed in his debut top-flight season, scoring 12 goals so far.
