Southampton are considering Will Still, Liam Rosenior’s Ligue 1 counterpart, as a more budget-friendly alternative for their head coach role.
Southampton’s managerial search continues to evolve by the day. One moment, Danny Rohl is the frontrunner; the next, it’s Liam Rosenior or even Steven Gerrard making headlines. What remains consistent, however, is the club’s clear intent to reduce risk—both on the pitch and financially.
This cautious approach explains the delay in any concrete move, despite earlier reports of a deadline for Rohl. After the costly misstep with Russell Martin, Southampton seem determined not to rush into another gamble.
Enter Will Still—a coach who fits the Liam Rosenior mold and could be a more cost-effective option. The RC Lens boss has impressed in Ligue 1 and, crucially, his current contract may allow Southampton to bring him in for a lower fee than Rohl or Rosenior.
According to talkSPORT, Still is now firmly on Southampton’s shortlist. While he may be a newer name in the mix, his combination of success and affordability could make him a smart and strategic hire.
If Southampton can act decisively this time, they might just outmaneuver Championship rivals like Leicester by securing an emerging talent from Ligue 1. That is, if they don’t let the opportunity slip through their fingers once again.
