The spring transfer portal opens April 16. Mason Woods and Joe Gaither discuss which Crimson Tide players might be on the move this offseason.
Welcome to BamaCentral’s “Just a Minute” — a daily video series featuring Alabama beat writers sharing quick takes on the Crimson Tide and the wider world of college sports.
In the latest episode, recruiting writer Mason Woods and beat writer Joe Gaither break down which Alabama players are most likely to hit the transfer portal, with the spring window set to open on April 16th.
Each year, thousands of college football players enter the portal during the winter and spring windows, searching for better playing time, NIL opportunities, or a fresh start elsewhere. It’s become the new norm across the sport.
Despite Kalen DeBoer’s strong recruiting efforts and a roster packed with talent, change is inevitable. Alabama’s lineup this fall will likely look different than it does now.
One key area to watch is the offensive line. With 26 linemen on the roster and only five starting spots, competition is fierce. While depth is usually a strength, it could now prompt some players to look for new opportunities — and the staff may need to re-recruit talent already on the roster to keep them in Tuscaloosa.
