Jrue Holiday and Mike Budenholzer, both key figures in the Milwaukee Bucks’ 2021 championship run, have since gone their separate ways. But their names were unexpectedly linked again — and Holiday isn’t thrilled about it.
Following the Phoenix Suns’ disappointing season and early playoff exit, head coach Budenholzer was quickly dismissed. In the aftermath, reports surfaced of a clash between Budenholzer and Bradley Beal, with one moment drawing particular attention: Bud allegedly asked Beal to “play like Jrue Holiday.”
Beal didn’t take kindly to the comparison. According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, Beal fired back with, “Don’t ever disrespect me like that. Don’t ever tell me to play like another player.”
Now with the Boston Celtics, Holiday is focused on the postseason and doesn’t want to get involved in the Suns’ drama. Still, he acknowledged the difference between his game and Beal’s.
“This is the first time I’m hearing about it,” Holiday said. “I think me and Brad are different players. Brad is an elite scorer, and he’s had somewhat of an off year. So I feel like just things are different.”
Holiday and the Celtics will begin their playoff run against the Orlando Magic on Saturday.
