On3’s newest College Football Playoff projection delivers a blow to Georgia.

Georgia fans won’t be thrilled with On3’s newest forecast.

It might sound bold, but Georgia football needs a true bounce-back season in 2025. Yes, the Bulldogs claimed the 2024 SEC Championship while navigating the toughest schedule in the nation, but their College Football Playoff performance was underwhelming—they didn’t win a single game and never posed a real threat to take home the national title.

The goal for 2025 is clear: not only contend for another SEC title but also make a serious run at the National Championship. Unfortunately, On3’s latest College Football Playoff prediction suggests that Georgia fans could be in for another letdown.

According to the projection, Georgia is once again expected to fall short in the CFP quarterfinals—this time to a powerhouse Ohio State team. While that’s a respectable opponent, it would mark the third consecutive year without a semifinal appearance, which would certainly sting.

Adding to the disappointment, Georgia isn’t predicted to win the SEC either. Texas is projected as both a top-four CFP team and the SEC champion, implying that Georgia could lose to the Longhorns in the SEC title game.

There is a silver lining: Georgia is predicted to host and win its first-round CFP game at Sanford Stadium. That would be a historic moment and a special memory for fans. But ultimately, it would still fall short of the program’s lofty standards.

After missing the semifinals two years in a row, anything less in 2025 would be seen as a major disappointment.
