During a tough 20-0 deficit against Georgia last October, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian benched Quinn Ewers in favor of Arch Manning in hopes of sparking the offense. The move didn’t pay off, as Texas fell 30-15 at home.
Reflecting on the moment during *Gruden’s QB Class* with Jon Gruden, Ewers admitted the benching made the season difficult. “It was tough,” he said. “I’m not going to lie and say it was all sunshine and rainbows. But looking back, I’m glad I went through it. That’s just the nature of playing quarterback.”
Ewers added that while he returned in the second half and led a few solid drives, the situation was still uncomfortable. “I felt like I was making the right decisions. Missed a few, sure—but it was definitely a weird position to be in.”
Now, Ewers is focused on the 2025 NFL Draft, with meetings already held with teams like the Raiders and Colts. Meanwhile, Arch Manning is set to lead the Longhorns moving forward.
