Karl Amon and Jack Scrimshaw have been sidelined with fresh injury setbacks.
Hawthorn has been dealt a blow ahead of their Centenary Match against Richmond, with key defenders Karl Amon and Jack Scrimshaw ruled out under concussion protocols.
Both players took heavy knocks in the Hawks’ dominant Round 7 win over West Coast and will now miss at least 12 days, as per AFL guidelines. Their absence adds tension to what was set to be a milestone fixture for the club.
Amon’s concussion occurred late in the third quarter, prompting his immediate withdrawal. According to High Performance Manager Peter Burge, he has started light recovery work and is feeling better but remains under close observation.
Scrimshaw’s situation is more delicate, having also suffered a concussion just six weeks earlier. While he’s on a similar recovery path, extra caution will be taken due to the recurrence.
Meanwhile, Mitch Lewis and Will Day are showing promising signs in their respective recoveries, offering some relief for the Hawks.
Hawthorn fans will be watching closely, as medical updates next week could shape the club’s lineup for upcoming clashes.
