Fulham full-back Timothy Castagne will be sidelined for the remainder of the season after undergoing successful ankle surgery earlier this week.
The Belgian international had been battling torn ankle ligaments for the past four months, stepping up in the absence of Kenny Tete, who was ruled out in December. Despite the injury, Castagne continued to play through the pain to support Marco Silva’s side.
Taking to Instagram, Castagne shared a photo of his bandaged right foot and explained his decision:
“Happy the surgery went well. I’ve struggled with tears in my ankle for four months now. I’ve tried my best to continue but it was getting worse. Tough to leave the team and miss the national team in such an important time. Looking forward to finally being myself next season!”
The 28-year-old now begins his recovery, hoping to return fully fit for the next campaign.
