Silva vows: “I’m here to help King grow”

Marco Silva has pledged to support rising star Josh King in reaching his full potential at Fulham.

The Fulham head coach gave King his senior debut during December’s draw with Southampton. The moment was especially significant, as King had walked out as a mascot alongside Tom Cairney seven years earlier during the club’s Championship play-off semi-final win over Derby County. Now 18, the academy graduate has made eight senior appearances this season and has also featured in Fulham U21’s PL2 play-off campaign.

Speaking at his press conference, Silva emphasized that King’s inclusion in the squad isn’t dependent on injuries to others.

“Josh doesn’t need other players to be injured to get his chance. There have been times when he was selected ahead of senior players. If they’re better, they play—regardless of age. He could definitely be in contention for the Everton game.”

Silva also highlighted the need for patience and guidance as King continues to grow.

“It’s vital we keep helping him develop—not just as a footballer, but as a person. He’s a great kid, and we want to see him mature into a man who’s ready for the Premier League. If he stays on track, he has a very bright future.”
