Marc Guehi and Adam Wharton were both rushed to hospital following Crystal Palace’s historic FA Cup win, missing out on the post-match celebrations.
Eberechi Eze scored the decisive goal in a 1-0 triumph over Manchester City, securing the club’s first major trophy in their 120-year history. However, the victory came at a physical cost for some players.
Guehi suffered a blow to the eye around the 60th minute and was substituted. Although he managed to join his teammates on the pitch and collected his medal from Prince William, he was later taken to hospital amid concerns of a fractured eye socket. Thankfully, scans showed only severe bruising. His availability for Palace’s final league games remains uncertain, but he’s expected to be fit for England’s World Cup qualifiers in June.
Meanwhile, Wharton was taken to hospital for concussion checks after being struck on the head by a powerful Kevin De Bruyne shot. He later posted a lighthearted update from his hospital bed, joking about forgetting the win due to the knock.
Despite their absence from the celebration at Wembley Boxpark, the pair played crucial roles in Palace’s unforgettable cup run.
