Carlos Augusto believes Inter Milan must channel their frustration from losing the Serie A title to fuel their Champions League final clash with PSG.
Carlos Augusto addressed the media during Inter Milan’s Open Media Day ahead of their Champions League final against PSG. The Brazilian wingback reflected on the team’s disappointing domestic season, emphasizing how it could serve as motivation on the biggest stage.
Inter ended their Serie A campaign on a bitter note. They missed out on the league title after failing to capitalize on key moments throughout the season, ultimately finishing just behind Napoli. After also falling short in the Supercoppa Italiana and Coppa Italia, expectations clearly weren’t met—especially following their dominant title run last year.
But with little time to dwell on the disappointment, Augusto insists the focus is now fully on the Champions League final. He believes that the frustration from missing out on domestic silverware must be turned into fuel for the clash with PSG.
“There’s definitely anger about the Scudetto,” he admitted. “But that has to be our motivation, not a burden. We’re experienced and know when to shut everything out and focus.”
Augusto praised the squad’s unity and emphasized how each challenge this season has shaped them. From battling in Serie B playoffs just a few years ago to now preparing for the biggest match in European club football, he called the journey “extraordinary.”
Now, with the chance to lift the most prestigious trophy in club football, Augusto says the team is locked in: “This is the most beautiful competition to play in. And if we win, all that came before won’t matter.”
