Newcastle United are prepared to sell a £15m signing, while Garang Kuol’s future is still unclear.

Newcastle United may see several players leave this summer.

Newcastle United are in a strong financial position regarding Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), and that could improve even more with additional player sales. Despite this, the club has no intention of offloading its top players. With Champions League football secured, stars like Alexander Isak, Sandro Tonali, and Tino Livramento are staying put. While Manchester City has shown interest in Livramento, Newcastle are not under pressure to sell.

Instead, the focus is on moving fringe players. According to The Athletic, Matt Targett is one such player who could be sold. Newcastle are ready to listen to offers for the 29-year-old left-back, who has struggled with injuries and fallen behind Lewis Hall in the squad. With Livramento also capable of playing on the left, Targett’s departure would be a logical move. He made just five appearances in the 2024/25 season and hasn’t started a league game since September 2023.

Garang Kuol is another player whose future is uncertain. Entering the final year of his contract, Newcastle are reportedly open to selling him. Kuol was once seen as a major prospect when he joined from Central Coast Mariners in January 2023, but he hasn’t broken into Eddie Howe’s first team. Despite impressing with the Under-21s, he remains far from Premier League action. His international coach, Tony Popovic, has even advised him to leave the club this summer to seek regular football.
