Crystal Palace confident of beating Chelsea to Diomande signing.

Crystal Palace believe they can beat Chelsea and Man United to sign Sporting CP’s Ousmane Diomande.

According to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, Crystal Palace are actively trying to persuade Ousmane Diomande to join Oliver Glasner’s project. Brown, who remains well-connected in the game, told Football Insider that Palace are serious contenders for the 21-year-old’s signature—especially with uncertainty over Marc Guehi’s future as he nears the final year of his contract.

Crystal Palace have already begun searching for Guehi’s potential replacement, drawing up a shortlist of ambitious targets. Diomande, one of Europe’s most promising young defenders, has drawn attention from top clubs like Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal. Sporting CP are reportedly willing to sell for around £50 million.

After winning the FA Cup and qualifying for the Europa League, Palace are ready to compete with elite clubs in the market. Brown says the club is confident they can land Diomande, crediting Glasner’s influence and the appeal of his growing project at Selhurst Park.

He noted that Palace’s successful pitch to Maxence Lacroix is a model for this pursuit. The manager’s ability to present a compelling vision, combined with the lure of European football, could prove decisive.

At the same time, Palace risk losing another star—Eberechi Eze. Brown revealed that Bayern Munich are interested in the FA Cup hero, who has a £68 million release clause. With Michael Olise already at Bayern, a reunion between the two close friends could be on the cards.
