Exclusive: Fulham target ‘explosive’ right-back to replace £50k-a-week star.

Fulham are targeting Heerenveen right-back Oliver Braude as a summer signing, with manager Marco Silva preparing for the likely departure of Kenny Tete. Tete is expected to join Everton on a free transfer at the end of the month after agreeing a three-year deal, and Fulham are looking to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.

While winger Harry Wilson is pushing for a new long-term contract following the club’s decision to trigger a one-year extension, the Cottagers are also prioritizing a defensive reshuffle. Braude, who impressed during the 2024/25 Eredivisie campaign, is seen as a strong candidate to fill the right-back spot.

However, Fulham could face serious competition for the 21-year-old, with Premier League clubs like West Ham, Bournemouth, Aston Villa, and Everton also showing interest. Despite his low current wages of under £2,500 per week, which makes him an attractive, budget-friendly option, a bidding war could drive up the cost of signing him.

Though Braude has emerged as a top target, some recruitment staff have expressed concerns about his size.

Standing at 5ft 9in, there’s worry he could be vulnerable when defending crosses. Nevertheless, Silva remains interested, valuing Braude’s tenacity and explosiveness, and sees him as a potential competitor to Timothy Castagne.

Fulham believe Braude could be ready to step up to the Premier League, and his maturity and performances in the Netherlands have boosted confidence in his ability to adapt. Meanwhile, the club is also keeping an eye on the situation of Joao Palhinha, with a possible return from Bayern Munich not ruled out if the German champions decide to let him go after just one season.
