Brighton’s £28m Price Tag Ends Celtic’s Evan Ferguson Hopes
Celtic’s faint hopes of signing Brighton striker Evan Ferguson appear to be over after the Premier League club set a staggering £28 million valuation on the Irish international. The 20-year-old had been loosely linked with a move to Parkhead, but any potential deal would require Celtic to smash their transfer record – nearly tripling the £11 million spent on Arne Engels last summer.
Despite a relatively quiet 2023/24 season, Brighton remain convinced of Ferguson’s potential to develop into a top European forward. The Republic of Ireland international, who burst onto the scene in 2022/23, is now attracting interest from Premier League clubs Fulham and Nottingham Forest.
With Celtic having already strengthened their attacking options this summer through the addition of Callum Osmand, a move for Ferguson at Brighton’s current valuation seems implausible. The Scottish champions appear priced out of a deal before formal negotiations could even begin.
