Anthony Elanga’s Newcastle move nears completion with only minor details remaining.

Newcastle United are growing increasingly confident of sealing a deal to sign Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest this weekend. While a final agreement has not yet been reached, both clubs are close to settling on the structure of the £55 million transfer, with only the payment terms left to be finalised. A slight increase in the offer, possibly to £56-57 million, could help push the deal over the line.

Manchester United, who sold Elanga to Forest for £15 million last summer, are also watching closely. They stand to earn around £6 million from a 15% sell-on clause based on the expected profit from the sale.

On the player’s side, personal terms are not expected to be an issue, and Elanga is believed to be keen on the move. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is a strong admirer of the 23-year-old Sweden international and sees him as a key addition to strengthen the right wing following Miguel Almiron’s exit.

Interestingly, during talks in January, Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo reportedly tried to include Jacob Murphy in a swap deal for Elanga. However, Howe blocked the move due to Murphy’s form—he finished the season with nine goals and 14 assists—and the need for depth in wide positions.

Elsewhere, Newcastle are standing firm on their valuation of full-back Tino Livramento amid interest from Manchester City, and they remain determined to keep star striker Alexander Isak despite Liverpool’s growing interest. The Magpies are also considered front-runners to sign Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott, with the potential transfer fee now emerging.
