City sign Ukrainian defender Talovierov.

Stoke City have signed Ukraine international Maksym Talovierov from Plymouth Argyle on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Stoke City have added 6ft 4in Ukrainian defender Maksym Talovierov to their squad, following his short but impactful spell at Plymouth Argyle. The 25-year-old joins on a three-year deal after moving from Austrian side LASK to Argyle in January for a club-record fee.

Talovierov made headlines with a standout performance in Plymouth’s 1-0 FA Cup win over Liverpool, and then scored against Manchester City at the Etihad in the following round. He also featured for Ukraine at Euro 2024 and brings European experience, having played in both the Europa League and Conference League for Slavia Prague and LASK.

Stoke City Sporting Director Jon Walters praised the signing, calling Talovierov a key piece in the club’s plans for the new season. Walters highlighted his international pedigree and his fit with Stoke’s identity, describing him as a player who leads with heart and intelligence—qualities that align with what fans expect.

Talovierov expressed his excitement about the move, calling it a dream to play in England. He emphasized the challenge and intensity of the Championship and is eager to connect with the fans, whose energy he believes can lift the team.

The centre-back becomes Stoke’s second summer signing, following the arrival of Wales international Sorba Thomas.
