Champions League club drop out as Nottingham Forest emerge as likely £5.9m destination.

Nottingham Forest are planning summer transfer activity, with new signings expected and some current players likely to depart.

Nottingham Forest wrapped up the 2024/25 season in seventh place. While they missed out on a Champions League spot, they secured a place in next season’s UEFA Conference League.

The club has already made their first summer signing with the arrival of Igor Jesus from Brazil. The striker helped Botafogo win the Brazilian championship last season. Forest are also being linked with Jair Cunha, indicating that Nuno Espirito Santo is looking to strengthen various areas of the squad.

Nottingham Forest winger Jota Silva

Jota Silva’s future at the club remains uncertain. Although he didn’t consistently impress last season, more game time—especially with European fixtures—could help him improve and win over the fans. Silva also brings useful European experience from his time at Vitoria, which could benefit Forest in the Conference League.

Sporting CP had shown interest in Silva, where he could have reunited with former manager Rui Borges. However, that move has reportedly fallen through.

With new players arriving, some of the current squad are likely to move on. Turkish journalist Oguz Oruc reports that Sporting are no longer pursuing Silva, but Turkish side Besiktas are showing genuine interest.

Silva, signed for £5.9 million, made most of his appearances from the bench last season, starting only five Premier League matches. He was behind Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi in the pecking order. His future may depend on whether Forest bring in more attacking reinforcements this summer.
