Evan Ferguson could be on the move to Italy, in what might turn out to be a promising transfer.
The 20-year-old Irish striker has struggled to replicate the form from his breakout 2022/23 season. Last season, he managed just one goal in 21 Premier League appearances, with only three starts split between Brighton and a loan spell at West Ham.
Despite this, Ferguson is drawing interest from clubs like Leeds and Celtic. According to Spanish outlet Revelo, Brighton have offered him to Serie A sides Roma and Atalanta. Both clubs would offer European football next season, with Roma in the Europa League and Atalanta in the Champions League.
On the international front, Ferguson has performed slightly better, scoring twice in eight appearances for Ireland over the past year. After ending a goal drought with a Nations League equaliser against Bulgaria, he admitted he’s learned to ignore external expectations and criticism.
Brighton are reportedly open to letting him go for a reduced fee of around £28 million. A move to Italy could revive his career — depending on whether he secures regular playing time.
