Ipswich Town are aiming for promotion in 2025/26 after their Premier League relegation, but Kieran McKenna faces a tough challenge, according to new insight from transfer expert Graeme Bailey.
Ipswich Town fans are looking ahead to the return of Championship football at Portman Road after a tough Premier League season. Preparations are well underway for the upcoming campaign, with the squad undergoing key adjustments. Following Liam Delap’s £30m move to Chelsea, the goal-scoring burden will now fall on George Hirst and Sammie Szmodics.
However, a new challenge has emerged for manager Kieran McKenna. According to Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey, Ipswich are preparing for Premier League bids for Omari Hutchinson. The 21-year-old, a standout for England’s Under-21 European Championship-winning team, is attracting interest despite being settled at the club.
Hutchinson has a £35m release clause, meaning Ipswich may be powerless to keep him if he chooses to leave. Everton and Nottingham Forest have now joined West Ham and Fulham in monitoring the former Chelsea talent.
While Ipswich remain hopeful of retaining Hutchinson, the increasing interest is concerning. A £35m sale, following Delap’s £30m departure, would significantly boost Ipswich’s transfer budget—enabling reinforcements across the squad and investment in a new striker.
Still, the club sees Hutchinson as crucial to their promotion push and will be eager for the transfer noise to quieten as they gear up for the Championship season.
