Awoniyi hits the woodwork as Nottingham Forest fall to Manchester City in FA Cup clash.

Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi came close to scoring but couldn’t stop Manchester City from beating Nottingham Forest 2-0 at Wembley and advancing to the Emirates FA Cup final, where they will face Crystal Palace.

Awoniyi, who started on the bench, came on in the second half for Chris Wood after City had already struck through Rico Lewis and Josko Gvardiol. His introduction brought new energy to Forest’s attack as they searched for a way back into the match.

The Nigerian almost made an instant impact, flicking a shot onto the crossbar with about ten minutes left. Morgan Gibbs-White tried to score from the rebound, but City goalkeeper Stefano Ortega made a sharp save.

Despite late pressure from Forest, Manchester City stayed strong to secure their spot in the final. Awoniyi’s lively 19-minute cameo showed promise, giving Forest a much-needed attacking spark.

It has been a tough season for the 27-year-old, who has scored just once in 24 Premier League games. However, he’ll hope to carry this momentum into the final league matches and boost his chances of a Super Eagles recall for the Unity Cup and World Cup qualifiers.
