West Ham United are preparing for a busy summer transfer window and have already started pursuing potential signings early.
One key area needing reinforcement is the goalkeeper position. With Lukasz Fabianski expected to depart, West Ham have held talks with Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale, according to talkSPORT.
Ramsdale, currently earning £100,000 a week, could be available for around £20 million as Southampton, now in the Championship, aim to reduce their wage bill. Though he only joined them last summer, Ramsdale is eager to return to the Premier League to boost his chances for England’s 2026 World Cup squad.
Hammers boss Graham Potter is reportedly a fan of the former Bournemouth and Sheffield United goalkeeper and sees him as a strong option to compete with Alphonse Areola, who struggled this past season.
However, not everyone is convinced Ramsdale is the right fit. Critics point to his three Premier League relegations, just three clean sheets this season, and off-field distractions, including public comments about concentration issues and family involvement.
With other promising options on the market, like Freiburg’s Noah Atubolu and Burnley’s James Trafford, West Ham may want to look elsewhere for a more reliable long-term solution.
