Stoke City have dismissed reports of Nathan Lowe being up for sale, despite rising EFL interest, according to Stoke on Trent Live.
Stoke City striker Nathan Lowe enjoyed a breakout season in 2024/25, significantly boosting his profile. The 19-year-old impressed while on loan at Walsall, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists in just 30 appearances. His strong performances sparked excitement about his return to Stoke, especially after he scored in his first game back in January.
However, Lowe’s playing time quickly diminished after his return, fueling speculation about a possible transfer. Recent reports suggested that Huddersfield Town were closing in on a deal worth £2.5 million, matching Stoke’s reported valuation of the striker.
Despite this, Stoke on Trent Live now reports that Stoke City consider these claims inaccurate. While the club does face Financial Fair Play (FFP) constraints and every player technically has a price, there is no current plan to sell Lowe. Instead, another loan move is being considered — most likely to a League One side — as a next step in his development.
From Stoke’s perspective, a loan would be far more beneficial than a sale. Lowe is still in the early stages of his career, and careful management is needed to ensure he reaches his full potential. His success at Walsall proved his quality, but his premature return to the first team highlighted that he may need more experience before stepping up permanently.
The club also faces a broader challenge: balancing financial needs with long-term planning. While Stoke may consider selling other players to meet financial targets, they see Lowe as a valuable asset for the future. After mishandling his return from loan once already, the club knows it must make the right decision this time around to protect both the player’s progress and their own long-term interests.
