Leicester City in advanced talks over surprise transfer exit.

Conor Coady is Rangers’ top target ahead of their Champions League clash with Panathinaikos.

Rangers have stepped up their pursuit of top target Conor Coady as they aim to strengthen their squad ahead of the Champions League qualifiers.

The Ibrox club is in advanced talks with Leicester City over a move for the experienced defender. With pre-season now underway, manager Russell Martin is eager to finalise deals and integrate new signings before next month’s crucial tie against Panathinaikos.

Coady, who still has a year left on his contract with Leicester, is open to the move and could be offered a longer-term deal by Rangers. The 32-year-old, capped 10 times by England, is seen as a key addition to bolster the squad’s leadership and experience.

Record Sport first revealed Rangers’ interest in making Coady one of their marquee summer signings. The deal is also being driven by new sporting director Kevin Thelwell, who previously brought Coady to Everton during his time at Goodison Park.

Coady began his career at Liverpool and made his name at Wolves before a loan stint at Everton. He joined Leicester in 2023, but the Foxes are now looking to trim their wage bill following their relegation to the Championship.
