James Trafford’s transfer to Newcastle is almost done, with personal terms agreed.

James Trafford is on the verge of becoming Newcastle United’s first major signing of the summer.

Eddie Howe has been targeting the Burnley goalkeeper for some time, and a move to St James’ Park now appears close to completion. According to *The Telegraph*, the deal is “pretty much done,” while *Sky Sports* reports that Trafford is keen on the move and personal terms are not expected to be an issue.

Last year, Trafford admitted frustration when a proposed move to Newcastle didn’t materialize. Now, an improved offer of £27 million, including add-ons, has been rejected by Burnley, but both clubs are continuing negotiations to bridge the remaining gap.

Burnley’s deal with Manchester City—which includes a 20% sell-on clause—has slightly complicated discussions. Despite this, with Newcastle and Trafford both eager for the transfer and Burnley open to a sale, an agreement is expected soon. Talks now focus on finalizing the transfer fee and payment structure.
