The New York Giants believe they’ve finally established a long-term solution at quarterback — and some of their key offensive players are beginning to buy in.
This offseason, the team signed veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston with the intention of having them mentor a future draft pick. That plan came together when New York selected Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart with the 25th overall pick in April. With that move, the organization felt confident its QB woes were behind them. So far, through offseason practices, their confidence seems justified — unless, of course, this “plan” turns into a full-blown quarterback controversy.
For now, though, things appear to be going smoothly. Tyrone Tracy Jr., a former fifth-rounder turned starting running back and a top offensive weapon alongside Malik Nabers, has been impressed by all three quarterbacks.
Speaking on Good Morning Football, Tracy shared his thoughts: “The leadership in that quarterback room is going to benefit the whole team. You’ve got Russ — Mr. Unlimited — setting the tone. Jameis brings that big personality. And then there’s Jaxson Dart, with his cool swagger. Each one brings something valuable to the table.”
As it stands, Wilson is expected to open the 2025 season as the starter. Still, the team’s long-term fate is clearly tied to Dart. The Giants are banking on the presence of seasoned veterans to help groom him for success. And Tracy, for one, likes what he sees from the group.
Whether that leads to a healthy competition or a messy controversy remains to be seen.
