Real Betis are targeting a defensive midfielder, with Leicester City’s Wilfried Ndidi among their options.
Leicester City endured a difficult return to the Premier League, suffering immediate relegation back to the Championship. The disappointment has already led to managerial changes, with Ruud van Nistelrooy being sacked last week. Now, the club faces a potential exodus, as some of their top players may look to move on amid the rebuilding process.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Spanish side Real Betis are among the clubs showing interest in Leicester midfielder Wilfred Ndidi. The La Liga team are preparing to lose their standout American midfielder, Johnny Cardoso, to Atletico Madrid, and are actively searching for a replacement in the defensive midfield role.
One name on Betis’ list is Enzo Barrenechea of Aston Villa, who impressed on loan at Valencia last season. Villa are reportedly open to selling Barrenechea for around €10 million, but Ndidi could present a more cost-effective alternative.
Ndidi, who has made over 300 appearances for Leicester, including more than 200 in the Premier League, would bring experience and stability to Betis. With the Spanish club competing in the Europa League next season, the move could be an appealing opportunity for the Nigerian international.
It remains to be seen whether Real Betis will move forward with their interest and submit an official offer in the coming weeks.
