Maksym Talovierov impressed during the latter half of last season with Plymouth Argyle.
Stoke City would be making an “excellent addition” if they complete the signing of Maksym Talovierov, according to EFL pundit Don Goodman.
The 25-year-old Ukrainian centre-back turned heads after joining Plymouth Argyle as their record signing in January. He made an instant impact, helping the team secure big wins over West Brom, Millwall, and even Liverpool in the FA Cup during his first three matches.
Talovierov also scored against Luton and Manchester City in the cup, and played a key role in stabilizing what had been the Championship’s most fragile defence. His arrival, along with fellow defender Nikola Katic, gave Plymouth an unexpected shot at survival as their form improved dramatically.
However, with Katic now following former manager Miron Muslic to Schalke, and other key players like Mustapha Bundu, Ryan Hardie, and Adam Randell also leaving, Talovierov has attracted strong interest.
Goodman believes Talovierov could thrive at Stoke, especially alongside new signing Sorba Thomas, known for his quality in delivering set-pieces. He told Football League World, “This fellow was arguably going to be one of the most sought-after, Maksym, with what he achieved. I think he would be an excellent addition for Stoke City… those two new Stoke City signings, if Maxi has signed, could be very beneficial.”
