Brighton & Hove Albion have announced the signing of Colombian full-back Manuela Vanegas Cataño, as confirmed in an official press release shared this morning.
The 24-year-old arrives from Spanish side Real Sociedad, where she has played since 2021 and helped the team secure a top-half finish in Liga F last season. Her club career also includes spells at Formas Íntimas, Envigado FC, Atlético Huila, Independiente Medellín, and RCD Espanyol.
Internationally, Vanegas has earned over 30 caps for Colombia, featuring at both the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games.
Reacting to her arrival, Brighton head coach Dario Vidošić said: “It’s exciting to welcome Manuela to the squad. She’s a solid defender who is both reliable at the back and a threat going forward. Her energy and creativity will be a real asset as we aim to reach our goals this season.”
Vanegas becomes Brighton’s third signing in what is shaping up to be a busy summer transfer window.
