Report: Newcastle United targeting Brentford star for next signing

Newcastle United are looking to bolster their attack for the upcoming season, with Brentford’s Yoane Wissa seen as a strong option to support Alexander Isak.

After Callum Wilson’s departure, Newcastle United are keen to equip Eddie Howe with enough attacking strength ahead of the new season.

Wilson’s exit leaves a void in experience and reliable goal-scoring, making the search for a solid backup to Alexander Isak a key focus of their transfer plans.

Newcastle interested in Brentford’s Yoane Wissa

According to The Daily Mail, Newcastle’s recruitment team holds Brentford forward Yoane Wissa in high regard. The Congolese international scored 20 goals across 39 appearances last season and is admired for his Premier League experience and versatility across the front line.

Yoane Wissa of Brentford looks on

Wissa’s work rate and attacking flair make him an ideal fit at St James’ Park. His ability to adapt quickly would help reduce the transition time often needed by foreign signings and allow Isak to get much-needed rest during a packed schedule that includes Champions League football.

Wissa seen as a stronger option than Calvert-Lewin

While Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains on Newcastle’s radar, Wissa’s stronger goal record and fitness history make him the more attractive option. However, with Brentford also fending off interest in Bryan Mbeumo, they are likely to demand a high fee for Wissa as well.

Even so, a significant offer could tempt the Bees, who risk weakening their attack if both forwards depart in the same window.
