Leicester City’s struggles deepened as the Foxes conceded three unanswered goals before halftime.
Newcastle United fans quickly found themselves in party mode as they took a 2-0 lead within the first 10 minutes at the King Power Stadium.
The atmosphere turned even more celebratory when former Leicester player Harvey Barnes made it 3-0 in the 35th minute, prompting many Foxes supporters to leave the stadium early.
However, Barnes’ goal highlighted a much more troubling statistic. His strike marked the first Premier League goal in the last 21 matches at the King Power Stadium scored by a player who had previously represented Leicester City. Barnes, who left Leicester in 2023, hadn’t played at the stadium in over a year, and the last league goal scored by a current Leicester player at home was in December.
Despite his goal putting the game beyond doubt, Barnes chose not to celebrate, a sign of his affection for his former club. For Leicester fans, his goal underscored the stark contrast between the current state of their squad and the level of quality they once had, leaving them hopeful for a brighter future.
