Brian Dumoulin scores in overtime to lift Devils past Bruins.

Brian Dumoulin delivered the game-winner just 1:30 into overtime, lifting the visiting New Jersey Devils to a thrilling 5-4 win over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night.

Dumoulin capitalized on a slick drop pass from Dawson Mercer and fired a high wrist shot past Boston goalie Jeremy Swayman to snap New Jersey’s three-game losing streak. The Devils, already playoff-bound, improved to 42-32-7 with 91 points.

Timo Meier led the Devils with a goal and two assists, while Mercer added a goal and an assist. Stefan Noesen and Simon Nemec also found the net, and Luke Hughes and Nico Hischier each notched two assists. Jake Allen made 20 saves in goal for New Jersey.

For Boston, David Pastrnak had a goal and an assist—his sixth straight multi-point outing—while Morgan Geekie scored for the sixth consecutive game. John Farinacci and Marat Khusnutdinov also scored in the Bruins’ season finale, with Nikita Zadorov logging two assists and Swayman stopping 21 shots.

New Jersey surged in the second period with three unanswered goals to take a 4-2 lead. Noesen tied it from close range, and Nemec followed 30 seconds later with a deflected wrist shot. Mercer added a fourth goal when Hischier’s pass banked off his skate and in.

Boston responded with a late second-period goal by Farinacci, who scored his first NHL goal from a tough angle, and Khusnutdinov tied the game in the third off a centering pass from Fabian Lysell.

Earlier, Meier had opened the scoring at 7:25 of the first, but Geekie equalized less than two minutes later with a one-timer. Pastrnak then gave the Bruins a 2-1 lead early in the second, before the Devils took over—ultimately sealing it in overtime through Dumoulin’s decisive strike.
