Oklahoma Lands Commitment From Top Transfer Running Back

Oklahoma continues to strengthen its already impressive transfer class with another key addition. After a tough 6-7 finish in their first SEC season, Brent Venables and the Sooners have seen 28 players enter the transfer portal. However, they’ve responded by bringing in 17 new players, forming the No. 12 transfer class in the nation, according to 247Sports.

The latest headline addition is Jaydn Ott, the top available running back in the portal. Ott, a former four-star recruit out of Bishop Gorman High School, made a name for himself at Cal with a stellar freshman campaign that earned him Freshman All-American honors. He followed it up with a dominant sophomore season, leading the Pac-12 in rushing yards (1,315) and attempts (246), and earning First-Team All-Pac-12 recognition.

Though injuries limited his impact in 2024, Ott still managed to be productive before entering the transfer portal on Monday. Just a day later, he committed to Oklahoma. He’s now ranked as the top transfer tailback and third overall at his position.

In addition to Ott, Oklahoma also announced the signing of Stanford offensive lineman Jake Maikkula, who brings starting experience with 16 games under his belt. Despite lingering questions for the 2025 season, these additions suggest a brighter outlook for the Sooners in year two of their SEC journey.
