Fulham prepare offer for Bundesliga star to replace departing player – Sources

Fulham are eyeing a summer swoop for Mainz full-back Anthony Caci as they prepare for the likely departure of a key player, TEAMtalk has learned.

Marco Silva’s side has enjoyed a strong campaign and is still in the hunt for European qualification, currently sitting ninth in the Premier League and level on points with eighth-placed Bournemouth. The club’s leadership is reportedly very satisfied with Silva’s impact and is ready to support him with reinforcements in the upcoming transfer window.

One of Silva’s priorities is to bolster the full-back position. Kenny Tete, who plays at right-back, is set to leave the club on a free transfer when his contract expires in June. As a result, Fulham are actively looking for a replacement.

According to TEAMtalk sources, Anthony Caci has emerged as a leading target. Fulham have been monitoring the French defender for months and even reached out in January to explore the terms of a possible deal. Mainz, whose contract with Caci runs until 2026, is open to selling for a fee between €8m (£6.8m) and €10m (£8.5m).

Fulham view the valuation as reasonable and are seriously contemplating a formal offer for Caci in the coming weeks.

However, they won’t have a clear path to his signature. Caci’s consistency and versatility—he can operate as a left-back, left-midfielder, right-back, and right-midfielder—have attracted attention across Europe. In the current Bundesliga season, he has registered one goal, seven assists, and contributed to seven clean sheets in 28 appearances.

With clubs from Europe’s top leagues and Portugal expressing interest, Fulham may need to act quickly to beat the competition and secure Caci’s services before the race heats up even more.
