Crystal Palace have opened talks to sign versatile defender Tamiou Kpebane, who is expected to become a free agent this summer, according to reports from Germany.
The Eagles, despite a solid campaign and a potential FA Cup final on the horizon, may face a summer of change. Key players like Adam Wharton and Jean-Philippe Mateta are attracting interest, while Marc Guehi enters the final year of his contract in 2026—potentially prompting a sale. With these uncertainties, manager Oliver Glasner is likely to prioritize defensive reinforcements.
Kpebane, currently with Eintracht Frankfurt, is reportedly unlikely to renew his contract and has drawn interest from Palace due to his unique versatility. Standing at 6’4″, the 18-year-old has featured in five positions this season—from full-back to attacking midfield—showcasing flexibility that could prove invaluable.
Though he’s yet to make a senior appearance, Kpebane has impressed at youth level, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in 21 games. His standout performance against FC Nuremberg U19s, where he contributed two goals and two assists from the wing, underlines his attacking potential.
Palace’s pursuit of Kpebane appears a smart, low-risk move, offering long-term upside with no transfer fee involved.
