One of Aston Villa’s most devoted fans, Prince William, won’t be present to cheer on his team today. Villa face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final at Selhurst Park, with a spot at Wembley on the line. However, royal duties have kept the Prince away.
Despite frequently attending Villa matches, Prince William is currently in Vatican City, representing the King at Pope Francis’s funeral. Standing alongside world leaders, including Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and US President Donald Trump, William is fulfilling a major royal responsibility — his first time representing the monarch at an international funeral.
Meanwhile, Villa manager Unai Emery emphasized the importance of both the Premier League and the FA Cup for the club’s ambitions. He praised the journey over just the results, stressing the team’s commitment to fighting on both fronts.
Prince William has been a regular presence at Villa’s key matches this season, including historic wins over Bayern Munich and Manchester City. If Villa make it to the FA Cup final, the Prince is expected to attend at Wembley, likely joined by Prince George once again.
