Leicester City’s tough Premier League season worsened with a 3-0 loss to Wolves at Molineux, where Jamie Vardy missed a penalty.
Ruud van Nistelrooy didn’t hold back after Leicester City suffered a 3-0 defeat to Wolves at Molineux. Already relegated, Leicester’s struggles continued as Matheus Cunha scored once and set up two more for Jorgen Strand Larsen and Rodrigo Gomes. Jamie Vardy, playing out his final season with Leicester, missed a penalty that could have offered a lifeline.
The Foxes have now conceded first in 29 of their 34 Premier League games this season — a competition record — and have lost 24 matches overall. Despite making three substitutions at halftime, Van Nistelrooy couldn’t inspire a turnaround and admitted uncertainty about his future at the club.
Speaking after the game, Van Nistelrooy criticized his team’s lack of intensity and basic effort, saying it wasn’t about talent but commitment. He stressed that easy mistakes and a failure to win duels cost them dearly. Although he praised the second half effort slightly, he said the inconsistency in performances, compared to their previous games against Brighton and Liverpool, remains frustrating.
Van Nistelrooy urged his players to stay motivated for the final matches, especially to honor Vardy’s contribution, but acknowledged they simply haven’t been at the required Premier League standard.
