Ruben Amorim and Manchester United’s management are working to strengthen the squad in this summer’s transfer window. They have already signed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, and are close to finalising a deal for Benjamin Sesko. Still, Amorim’s midfield needs more depth, leading to enquiries about Brighton’s Carlos Baleba.
Baleba, a Premier League-proven central midfielder, is highly rated by Amorim. According to ESPN, Brighton value the 21-year-old at around £105 million (€120 million).

Despite the interest, Baleba is reportedly content to stay at Brighton, where he has become a key player under Fabian Hurzeler.
The Cameroonian, who joined Brighton from Lille in 2023, made 34 league appearances last season, scoring three goals and providing one assist. Known for his physicality, ball-winning ability, and driving runs through midfield, he has been vital to Brighton’s fluid style of play. With a contract until 2028, the Seagulls have no intention of selling him this summer.
